inventory and information

Many people make you think that owning NFA (National Firearms Act of 1934) items such as a Silencer, Short Barrel Rifle, Short Barrel Shotgun, Machine Gun, or an AOW is a larger hassle than it is. Yes, there are a few decisions you should make before your purchase. Yes, there will be paperwork to fill out and a few extra things like fingerprints and passport photos. Yes, it will take some time for the ATF to approve things. No having an NFA item doesn’t allow the ATF to just show up and search your property with no warrant.

Other than what to buy one of the things that you should consider before you purchase an NFA item is if you want to do it individually or on a Gun Trust. I chose to go the route of a gun trust and chose to use a Lawyer instead of getting a cheaper internet trust. If you decide to go the Trust route and want to use a lawyer, I used Chad Huber in Toledo just click his name for a link and tell him I referred you. If you’re purchasing the Item through me or by clicking on my Silencer Shop link below the paperwork will be completed for you and just require your signature or any other responsible parties if there are any. I can help you with getting your fingerprints or provide you with the correct cards if you chose to have them done elsewhere. I learned a neat trick for the passport photos. Have a friend take a cell phone photo of you against a plain white background. The photo will need to show about 4 inches of your chest, about from the armpit up. Download an app called Layout by Instagram (IOS Android) select your photo and make it 4×4. Now just go to your local pharmacy and print it on a square 4×4 inch and you will have 4 passport size photos for way less than $15.00.

You will be waiting for the ATF to approve your purchase. I’ve always used NFATRACKER.COM to get information on current wait times. While you wait for a silencer to be approved its a good time to think about getting any accessories you may need for it.

AAC Tirant 45

Dead Air Mask, Sandman K, and Sandman S

Rugged Suppressors Oculus 22 Modular

Silencerco Maxim 9 and Specter II

Yankee Hill Turbo K, Turbo T2, Resonator R2, and R9

AAC was sold off to Palmetto Defense in the Remington bankruptcy.  The Tirant will still represent pistol suppression very well but is unknown if AAC will still be in business under the new ownership. Silencerco no longer Makes the Specter II but it will adequately represent .22lLR suppression.
